Auricula jewellery was established in April 2006 by Natasha Caughey, FGA.

Inspiration

I have always loved jewellery. My early career as a jewellery buyer and designer in central London inspired me to learn more about gemstones. This led me to study for an FGA in gemmology at the Gemmological Association in Hatton Garden. Last April I decided to set up under my own label, Auricula jewellery, in the picturesque village of Ditchling in East Sussex.

Gemstones and precious metals

I work with a wide variety of gemstones that have been faceted or tumbled and drilled as beads. The stones usually occur in rock form in the volcanic regions of the world such as South America. They are then shipped to countries such as India or China where they are fashioned into beads of differing shapes either by hand or machine. The pearls that I use are cultured and are generally from China. The amber is from the Baltic sea. All silver fittings are sterling silver, the gold fittings are gold plate or solid 9ct gold.

Bespoke and Bridal

I keep a number of loose stones in stock for the purpose of creating bespoke jewellery. If you need a piece of jewellery to match a special outfit, you could bring the garment along to the Ditchling showroom and I will put together a necklace, earrings or bracelet tailored to your requirements.

If you are getting married and need bridal jewellery for yourself or bridesmaids, I can co-ordinate items to work with your colour scheme. Pearls, rose quartz and rock crystal are particularly effective for pretty and delicate bridal pieces.
